Title: Tipping the Velvet
Author: Sarah Waters
Genre: Historical Fiction
Rating: 9/10

Girls, gender switching, music halls! All during the 1890's! Takes place in England. It's a really fun book to read. It rather sucks you in. Starts off slow, but takes off very well once the plot gets underway. Highly recomended.

Have you read The Fingersmith? If so, would you say this is better or not? Or maybe about the same level?

Haven't read it. I'll add it to my list. ^_^ Is it the same idea?

Not entirely. There are conspiracies and mental asylums and art collections and girl love and pickpockets and a whole bunch more.

It's about the same time frame as Tipping the Velvet, it seems, and quite brilliant. I liked it a lot.

I looked for it on Amazon and added it to my list of "books to read". She also has one called Affinity which is more of a murder mystery I guess. Tipping the Velvet is pretty light I'd say. They also have it as a movie on DVD.

I'm adding both of those books to my list of ones to read.

Would you mind if I added you to my friend list?

Haven't heard about the tv series, however there is a DVD/VHS version out there. Netflix has it if you have Netflix. I'll be watching it this weekend!
